Holiday Sprays and Science Bingo

MONDAY

Today we made Holiday Sprays to sell. I had them take all my empty bottles of Essential Oils and inventory them and then create fractions with them. My oldest got to also calculate how much profit he'll get once he sells all the Holiday Sprays he made.

They made these 2 Holiday Sprays today.

TUESDAY

I had to work today and help sub again so I left the kids a list to do. The newest thing this week was participating in Science Club. I had them work on Science Bingo ones they could do on their own, and I got home in time to supervise their Zoom call.

I then helped my daughter record her song using some of Messengers filters. She did amazing and we hope to have it up soon on their YouTube channel.

WEDNESDAY

We started with our Morning Routine which lead to a discussion on signs of the 2nd coming and repentance.

We worked more on our Holiday Sprays. They made this one and then based on what empty ones we had left, I made up some others. I've been teaching classes for over 8 years so I'm very familiar with these essential oils <3 Now we just have to label all of them.

Then the kids did Night Zookeeper.

After lunch, they had their Let's Create Homeschool Support Group Zoom Class. They continued watching Winnie the Pooh while the created. Today they used markers and did different drawings. My son did a farm scene while my daughter practiced on people.

I had my Homeschool Support Group Mother Mentors Zoom meeting tonight. We talked more about a Homeschool Vision.
  • What you want your kids to look like at 18-19
  • Why Homeschool
  • Way Homeschool
  • Get away from good and bad so it doesn't attach to your self-worth
  • Honest daily inventory of what you wanted/didn't want

THURSDAY

During our Morning Routine of Compliments, my oldest said I was flexible. My daughter complained saying that she was more flexible. My oldest tried to explain different meaning of flexible. My daughter had to prove her physical flexibility though so we all practiced the splits and bridges/back bends. I did the best splits, but my daughter was able to get down into a back bend once and she can walk across the room while in the bridge position. It killed my back to try =D.

Then we did the Pull Up Bar to see how many pullups and how long we each could hang. My daughter looks small, but she's pretty strong. She was able to do 4 pull ups and hang for 30 seconds. When I was a teenager, her dad and I could hang on the bar for 3 minutes plus. We definitely can't do that now haha. Our bar is pretty slippery so maybe we'll try again with gloves.

Then the kids played outside. It started to warm up again and they used the Ninja Warrior Line.

FRIDAY

We spent the most of the day cleaning because it felt like we were just so behind especially with laundry. While I was cleaning my youngest's closet, he played with some Dress Up clothes =) I have all our Halloween clothes in his walk-in closet.
The kids also spent a bunch of time outside again.

Homeschool Like Clockwork, but some Puke

MONDAY

Spin the Wheel is back!

My son spun Exact Path and Make a Video.

My daughter spun Kiwi Crate and Journal.

We went on a walk on as a whole family since my husband took the day off. It was a perfect day outside. Then we played Sleeping Queens for the first time during our lunch break. It was a fun game and quick to learn. It's also great for expanding on your own and creating new ways to play. I had the kids draw their own king and queens. I might try to improve them on Photoshop.

I mailed in my ballot this morning!

Then the kids played outside with our Ninja Ropes course and helped us clean up the leaves.

Then we ended the day with a fire and the kids still playing outside.

It was nice to spend the day outdoors especially in November. By the weekend we're supposed to get lots of snow.

TUESDAY
One of the kids threw up in the middle of the night (maybe too much candy) so we're taking it easy. It was hard for me to sleep, and the puke smell was awful.

Woke up to all these leaves again too! Ugh! Haha!

My oldest worked on his Tinker Crate. He made the Spin Art machine.

My daughter worked on drawing. She is really improving her talent.

Then the kids did Exact Path Math. I love this program and so glad My Tech High offers it!

My youngest made this all on his own! I was impressed with his hexagonal design! We love MagnaTiles in this house.

Luckily no more puke the rest of the day.

WEDNESDAY

My daughter made brownies and was reminded the difference between teaspoon and tablespoon when her batter didn't look quite right.

Outschool Game Design was on my son's to do list. That runs like clockwork with him.

Let's Move Homeschool Support Group class. All 3 kids love to participate. They did a Scavenger Hunt Letter Bingo.

I worked on sanding my daughter's desk so we could paint it a fun color. My daughter helped by wiping off all the reside when I was done. She will help paint it when we get a chance. It got cold and snow is coming so time to put the car into the garage.

THURSDAY

They spun Night Zookeeper.
My daughter had her Orthodontist and the assistant accidentally helped wiggle one of her teeth really well so she had to redo the bracket.

Green and Pink colors this time! Her 2 teeth that have been coming in so slowly are finally down enough to attach 2 new brackets to.

My oldest worked on his Outschool while we were on the orthodontist.

FRIDAY

I got called into work to help out the preschool so I left a list for my kids to do. They did great! On the list I had Night Zookeeper, Outschool, Read 50 pages, Compliments and Gratitude videos, 2 Beast Academy pages (which I helped my daughter with a couple problems without fighting!).

Knock on wood first, but this week there was very little fighting about school. Maybe we've found our rhythm and things are starting to run like clockwork. Maybe our compliments and affirmations are making the biggest difference. Maybe having less focus on results is helping. I'm not sure, but I am grateful.

Cold Fall - Happy Halloween

Brrr it's cold this week! We got snow on Sunday, just a dusting, but lots of wind. It makes me want to huddle up at home. Good thing we did a lot of outings the week before.

Lots to catch up on with blog posts, a vendor event, continuing I Love my Life event with a healing plan week, and general life like lots of laundry! Luckily my oldest has been really good about doing dishes and cleaned the bathrooms a couple times ---- all so he can earn more computer time or stay up later.

MONDAY

We completed our Morning Routine.
This week our affirmation is "I am smart and bright!"

We made Air Packs for their Among Us Costumes with duct tape and 2L bottles.

They listened to an audio book while coloring Halloween pictures.

We've also been saving one our butterflies we let go last week. It was so cold, so we brought this guy back in and hopefully he'll live until it warms up in a few more days and he builds his flying strength.

TUESDAY

Morning Routine

Harry Potter audio book with more Halloween coloring

Wii Sports

Exact Path  - my daughter did mostly language and reading ones while my oldest did mostly math.

My boys helped make our copycat Zuppa Toscana soup.

My youngest put in all the potatoes that my oldest and I cut =)

WEDNESDAY

Library - my youngest came with me and helped put all the books in the return bin.

We got to borrow a game that has been suggested by many, Sleeping Queens and a STEAM kit! I'm excited to be able to use these resources!

Exact Path - my daughter didn't fight with me on any of them even when one of them wasn't a good test of knowledge and took the whole family to pass (Weak to strong words).

Outschool Game Design with Agent Cubes online. My son had a frustration with some of the code and had to start over.

Mini bookshelves were set up in the basement to display our library books instead of keeping them on our bench.

I spent the day organizing the Basement again and going through things to donate or throw away. The kids cleaned up other areas of the house.

I finally got around to carving our pumpkins. My oldest helped get the seeds out. My husband loves to eat baked pumpkin seeds.
Who else has Among Us?

I had the Homeschool Support Group tonight - Mother Mentors. Here are some of my notes.

  • What's your idea of homeschool look like?
  • Read, Write, Basic Math
  • Quiet Time - where Mom reads - no talking, could draw
  • Teach them to be resourceful and where to find things they need
  • You don't need to memorize so much only if it's something they love
  • Interview your kids at least once a month to see what they want to do and feel like they should do
  • Inspiration --- get $5 worth of coloring and activity books at the $1 store for the kids to do while I read aloud.
  • Marlene gave me a shoutout that I'm doing really good after I shared my resources of Night Zookeeper, Penpals, Big Life Journals and fun journals as a suggestion for writing and handwriting skills. We don't do them everyday, but we do them several times a month at least for right now.

THURSDAY

Hair colored for my daughter and Halloween. She's lucky to have an aunt who can do her hair for a lot cheaper. Her aunt has her salon in her basement almost finished.

FRIDAY

Their Fall Break - Since I went into work to help set up for Boo Thru, today was their fall break especially since they finished their list pretty much by Wednesday.

After my husband was done with work, we headed to the Boo Thru. It did well being socially distanced. Life almost felt normal in the outside world. Most people didn't know our costumes; maybe 4 did. I was impressed when a mom guessed correctly. The worse guess was Teletubbies haha.

Happy Halloween!

Here are our Among Us Halloween costumes =)

So glad it was warm today to go trick or treating.

My Birthday Week!

MONDAY

I gave the kids a list of things that I would love for them to do for school the last 2 weeks so I could get done my list and have a fun birthday month and not focus on heavy topics true to my Type 1 nature.

They worked on some of my list like Night Zookeeper.
My daughter finished her animal unicorn drawings for her song.

My oldest worked on coding some more of his computer games through his Outschool class.

They also worked on using more technology by creating some videos with the cell phone. We're not big cell phone users so I'm impressed with how easy it is for them to learn how to use a cell phone. Computers are so much more easier to me haha.

TUESDAY

I had to go to IKEA to finally get that special peg board to fit those other things I bought for a peg board there a couple months ago so after Ikea we went to Farm Country again since it was a nice day.

WEDNESDAY

Happy Birthday to Me!
We did a Homeschool Field Trip. Instead of paying $10 a ticket, we were able to pay $4 each with a group of homeschoolers.

HeeHaw Farms has definitely grown since we've been here last. I think I went with my daughter for her preschool field trip.

They loved the zip lines and slides the best. My youngest loved talking and petting the turkey that like to follow people around =D.

Then they came home and did their Homeschool Support Group Cooking Class. They learned how to create some fun treats for Halloween.

After school, we celebrated my birthday with their grandparents bringing us pizza and then having some goodies from Carlos' Bakery through Goldbelly.
The cake was quite yummy after it was fully thawed. The cookies needed to be in the oven for about 8 minutes, and then they tasted delicious. The lobster tails must not have been packaged well enough because they were waxy, not crispy/crunchy as I've heard them described. I tried twice to eat them wondering if they just weren't thawed all the way like the cake, and I had to spit it out and throw them away. Luckily, it was a gift card we used for this through my husband's work. I sent in feedback so we'll see.

THURSDAY
Wii Sports was the main thing the kids did today. They did a lots of tennis, baseball and bowling.

We also read some of these cool grammar books which I think are so fun. They are called Words are Categorical. They also have some of them on Kindle Unlimited too.

My daughter had a My Tech High Art club class this afternoon. She drew and colored a fall scene and then got really into drawing all sorts of pictures that had leaves in them.

FRIDAY

I had my I Love my Life Event so the kids worked on 2 lessons from their Human Body Outschool class. Lots of fighting though while I was trying to participate in my sessions. Good thing I didn't try to give them a lot of things to do together. They tend to work better individually.

More about the I Love my Life event in another post.
