Laser Tabernacle Seek

James
I went to Classic Fun Center. I played Laser Tag. I had the highest score with 36,250 points. I had to do a lot of running. The team was mostly boys versus girls.

Kaelyn

I went to Classic Skating. I had so much fun there. We played Laser Tag.

We also played in this bounce house. There was a section where you duck under a pole and then you jump over another one while it spins around fast if someone spins it for you. I helped with the Tabernacle Experience for church.

Luke
I got to help my siblings launch their rockets. I made Sirenhead out of cube blocks. I made family portraits out of people shaped Popsicle sticks.
I turned 6! I had a Seek (Roblox Doors) Birthday. I had fun with my friends going on a scavenger hunt. I got a lot of presents from my friends and family. I loved them all.

Newton's Thriller Fishy Kisses

James
I made model rockets with our Tribe Makerspace. We will launch them next week. I am going to paint mine first all white. My mom helped make sure we followed the right directions since sometimes it was hard to hear in our large group.

Kaelyn

I built a rocket in Makerspace. I learned about Newton's laws.

In dance, we are practicing Thriller to perform for our Halloween party and as the opening act for Shakespeare Club.

Luke
I fed birds in a room at SeaQuest. I had some feed on my hand, and I held it out. I put my hands in a water area and these fish came and ate the dead skin from my hands. Since it's my birthday month, I also go to do fishy kisses on my feet.

Smoking Grass as You Like it

James
In science, we are learning about the sun. We looked through a telescope with a sun filter. It looked mostly orange, but it did have a few sun spots. My teacher then demonstrated why the sun filter was needed. She took off the sun filter and put a sticky note right where you look into. She also put a piece of grass, and the grass started smoking!

Kaelyn
I went to a play called As You Like It. It's a Shakespeare play where a girl is kicked out of the kingdom. She pretends to be a guy. The play was great. One of my leaders from church played the lead.

Kaelyn's homeroom teacher asked if she'd rather have school start after Labor Day or before.
I say before because I don't want to get out of school in June.

Luke
I got to make a rocket with paper. We wrapped it around a PVC pipe for the shape. Then used a piece of an index card to make the point. I waited in line with my rocket. I pressed a button to shoot the rocket. There was a countdown.

I played with my friends in our Stem Jr. club. I did MagnaTiles and potions with test tubes.

Zoo Fossil Puzzle Pots and Cones

James
I went to the Natural History Museum. We went as a big homeschool group with our Homeschool Tribe. We learned about dinosaurs. We saw their bones/fossils.

Kaelyn
I played basketball. I learned how to play a new game called Cones. My team won because we had the most cones. Every time you make your shot, you get a cone.
Luke
I helped take care of animals this week. People in our neighborhood had us pet sit a chameleon, 8 chickens, 1 cat, 2 dogs, a hedgehog, and a bunch of fish. It was fun getting chicken eggs.

I also went to the Natural History museum. I liked putting a 3D puzzle together of a pot. It was fun to pretend to be a turtle crossing the road in one of their exhibits.

Curiosity Sloth Life

James
I went to the Museum of Natural Curiosity.

The sloth hang, I hung upside down for 111 seconds. My next try I got 130 seconds. My little brother then tried it and hung right side up and beat me. He got over 420 seconds.
Kaelyn
In dance class, my group and I created a warm up dance. Basically we all do 2 cartwheels. We do a trust fall. Our song is How Do I Say Goodbye. We fall on "Goodbye" and push ourselves back up on "Life." Then we do this arm stretch sticking our elbows out to each side. We all switch sides.
Luke
I was so strong that I got 420+ seconds/7 minutes! on the Sloth Hang. It wasn't very hard. It hurt my back a little. I beat my older brother! My brother only got a little over 2 minutes. I beat my first time too.

I also went to splash pad to cool down after basketball practice. I got really wet, but had lots of fun. I love basketball!

Back to Homeschool 2023/2024

First Day of School we decided to do a day earlier than planned since James and Kaelyn had "practice"days at the middle and high schools for 7th grade and 9th grade.

Kaelyn is excited to do split enrollment this year. Since we use My Tech High for funding for our homeschool, 7th grade and above can do split enrollment where they can take up to 2 classes at their local school.

Kaelyn is doing College & Career Awareness and Dance.

James is doing Seminary (doesn't count for a MTH class) and Science. He was hoping to do another class but it was hard to get a class he wanted for the time he needed.

This is Luke's first year with Kindergarten!
This year is pretty unique where I can say I have an elementary schooler, a middle schooler, and a high schooler!

Valentine Ready

MONDAY
We played with some new things from Rainbow Resource Center

My oldest really loved the geoboards.

I grabbed a lot of Geography things for the site.

We played at a local park after our walk.

The kids are into an Uno game run. They've been playing so often.

Ouch! Lots of points!

Do you read the rules to old games? It was interesting to look at the rules for Uno compared to when I played as a kid. It's funny to hear what house rules friends have had with old games. =D

The kids worked on Beast Academy workbooks.

I got out the beans for my son to play and dig in.

The kids also worked on their Big Life Journals.

TUESDAY

In the evening, my daughter participated in my Parenting Good Choices class. They have a section for the kids to role play. It was pretty awesome. Then my kids got $5 Walmart gift cards for role playing.

My daughter has been working hard on this coloring page.

Science Club through My Tech High.

They played around with static electricity.

It was National Pizza Day so I grabbed our favorite Dominos toppings.

WEDNESDAY

The kids learned some magic tricks with the Homeschool Support Group. My daughter was able to try it for the group and she was surprised she was able to do it.

She finished her coloring page.

My oldest creating on the geoboard again.

THURSDAY
My daughter started a new coloring page during her art club with My Tech High.

We tried a funny, old ---- new to us game called Funglish that we grabbed from the library.
It was quite difficult. I guess we need to work on our vocabulary more.

Can you guess the words we were trying to describe?

Granted it was for 12+ so my oldest did the best with it, but I struggled too with some.

Coloring pages in her affirmations book.

My daughter working on her latest Doodle Crate with embossing.

Another geoboard creation. It's so interesting to see their favorites things to use and create with.

FRIDAY
If the kids were in public school, they would have had their Valentine's party so we decided to put their Valentines together and deliver it to some of their friends.

We then worked on a density experiment from a science kit from the library. The kids loved this experiment.

J:
This week we tried a new game called, Funglish. We try to describe a word using specific adjective cards. One person puts up this sign that has adjectives on them with 3 sections: definitely, kind of, and not. It was really hard to get the word maybe because it was a 12 and up game. My mom won with 4 correct. My sister had 2 and I had 3 right.

K:
I made cookies (on Friday night). I had to measure everything correctly it would mess up the cookies like I sorta did last time, but at least they still tasted good. My mom helped me and so did my little brother (he poured in stuff).
