Christmas 2010 Decor

DON'T FORGET TO ENTER MY GIVEAWAY. Holiday Card Design from the Sweetest Impressions! Ends Friday, December 10th. ONLY 1 ENTRY SO FAR.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Here's what our Christmas decorations look like this year.
My son helping to decorate our little 3 foot tree. One day we'll have the 6-7 footer. It's so fun that my son can help now.
A little JOY sign on our door. Trade from Frills.
Our stockings: I made my husband's several years ago. My great grandma made mine when I was 3. My mom put my son's name on the last one and I hope to add more to it someday soon.
Our mantle: I have so many miscellaneous items from gifts from friends, students, kids I watched at day care etc. So I did my best to arrange them attractively on my mantle since I don't have very much other holiday decor.
 Here's a close-up of our Nativity scene that's on the right side of our mantle.
This year I put our tree by the window even though it's barely tall enough to see even on my large storage container stand. I love seeing Christmas trees through people's windows though.
On the left I created a little display of all the holiday books and CDs we have. I plan to read them or listen to them over the next few weeks.
Our little snowman advent calendar (maybe one day I'll make one for my kids). When I was little we had one where we put mini candy canes for each day so we took turns on who got the candy cane. Oh I'm writing this on the 6th so don't worry I'm keeping up with the calendar =D
My son wanted his picture taken by the tree too. I'll be getting better one of him by the tree later.
Stay tuned - tomorrow another giveaway!
The Sweetest Impressions Review and Giveaway!
The Sweetest Impressions is a sweet little, creative boutique of custom Mommy designs. Farah offered to let me review a custom holiday card design.
Here's the design she came up for me. I'm so grateful she did this because I usually create my own, but this year it has really been hard to find time.
All I had to do was send a picture for her to use, the style and colors I wanted.
  • We took this picture on Thanksgiving. The original picture is part of a big group one and my husband just cropped us out and edited it. Our son wasn't being very cooperative (he had just woken up from a nap) to get a picture of just our family with our son smiling.
  • Style I told her was scrapbooky
  • Colors I requested were: reds, greens, and blues (my favorite colors) or colors that would go with the picture
Farah created this design for me so quickly! She is friendly and great to work with. I love the design, and she matched colors wonderfully. I love the scroll work in the corner and the bow placement was perfect to hide any flaws from my husband's editing of our picture.
25th Mommy Mondays - CSN Review
Remember my last review of CSN stores and the Little Tikes Table. Well I was lucky enough to get to review something else from them!
Again it was so hard to choose what to get with my $35 certificate. You can spend hours searching their site. Then I remembered we need a changing table for our 2nd baby coming in April. When we had our 1st, we lived in a basement apartment that was mostly furnished, and we just used a low bookcase for our changing table. All I had to buy was the changing pad.
You can kinda see what the changing pad was on...
This is my son when he was almost 2 mo. old. Wasn't he huge!?
In this house we're in, it didn't come with any furniture. We have some bookshelves but they weren't as wide. With an older baby, you can get away with changing them on the floor, but with a newborn and being sore from giving birth, I knew I would need a changing table.
So I searched CSN and found this one in our price range: Badger Basket Cherry Sleigh Style Changing Table with Lower Storage Bin (baskets not inlcuded)
What I love about CSN:
•so easy to search!
•you can earn 3% back on every order, receive exclusive rewards member promos plus more!
•they have 200+ specific stores
•kind and understanding representatives
•lots of items have free shipping
What I love about  the Badger Basket Cherry Sleigh Style Changing Table with Lower Storage Bin
  • matches the crib/toddler bed we have perfectly so it was true to its cherry color
  • easy and quick to assemble even for an almost 5 month pregnant woman! I think I did it all in an hour. It probably could have been done in about 40 minutes if I read the directions more carefully and if my 2 year old wasn't "helping."
  • can hold up to 30 lb. toddler. My 2 year old loves being in it too. He thinks it's a bed, but we've been trying to explain to him that it's where we change diapers.
  • AFFORDABLE!
  • Storage bin rolls and can be used without the changing table. When the next baby is older, it will be great to store toys! Right now the bin is storing some newborn-6 mo. clothing (hopefully this baby is a boy because we don't have any girl clothes!)
What I dislike about  the Badger Basket Cherry Sleigh Style Changing Table with Lower Storage Bin
  • the changing pad that came with it was too thin (luckily I already had a changing pad)
  • changing pad that came with it verse the one I already had
    I guess the baby could be more safer in the first one, but it's not like I'm going to leave the baby unattended
  • one of the storage bin pieces was slightly bent so it was a little harder to put together
Overall, I'm very satisfied with this product and would recommend this to people who are on a budget.
*I was given a $35 certificate code to CSN stores. My opinions are my own.
Fashionable Fridays #28 - Paint that Nail
Its Fashionable Friday again!! I did snowflakes! What I did is painted a base coat then I picked a base color. I chose a blue nail polish which is Piggy Polish: Blue Me a Kiss.
Then I did the snow flakes with a White Stripe Rite. I made an X then made another line going across up and down it. Then where a snowflake wouldn't fit I put some dots as snow with Sally Hansen Xtreme wear: white on, but over the dots of white I put silver glitter that was Pure Ice: Beware. I used a dotting tool to do the dots but you could use a tooth pick or a bobby pin. Then put a top coat and was done.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~`
Aren't these gorgeous! I love these! I need to start investing in some nail polish =D

Thanks Krystin again from Paint that Nail!
