Mother's Day Sign

Here was the project that I taught this month at my local craft store. I made my advance since I wasn't sure if I was going to have the baby yet. Good thing because using Crackle Paint is tricky! I had to try like 5x to get it right! Also they had me make this one since their example wasn't as pretty! =D

Here's the example that the Store Made. The black photo corners just weren't cutting it for us so I added the hand Die Cut and Heart Punch on mine to match the quote.
TIPS: Anyway make sure you have new crackle paint - at first they wanted me to use one they had opened already. Use a real paint brush - not foam brush when doing the crackle paint. Only let the crackle paint dry for 5 minutes not the 15-40 that it says on the directions. I went vertical with the regular acrylic paint, then went horizontal with the Crackle Paint. Oh and do just one section at a time!

I'm so excited about the Father's Day project for next month's class!

Red

For the month of August at Porters, we have to choose or think about the meaning of colors when we scrapbook.

Red symbolizes: action, confidence, courage, vitality

Pink symbolizes: love, beauty

Yellow symbolizes: wisdom, joy, happiness, intellectual energy

Green symbolizes: life, nature, fertility, well being

Blue symbolizes: youth, spirituality, truth, peace

Purple symbolizes: Royalty, magic, mystery

White symbolizes: Purity, Cleanliness

I didn't really choose a color. I just looked through my scrapbook papers and really wanted to use the black modern patterned paper and it fit perfectly with my pregnancy pictures. Looking at the meaning of colors again, I was like yeah RED fits. I don't always have confidence, but that day I wanted confidence and wanted to feel like a model. I definitely did.
Here's some more info about the meaning of the color RED
http://crystal-cure.com/red.html

Red is the warmest of all colors. Red is the color most chosen by extroverts and one of the top picks of males. On the negative side red can mean temper or anger. In China, red is the color of prosperity and joy. Brides wear red and front doors are often painted red. Red is Tuesday's color. Red roses symbolize passionate love. Ruby rings should be worn on the left hand. Red is the color of Mars. This planet is known as the God of War.

Red Energy

Red is associated with fiery heat and warmth. It can also mean danger (burning).

Red is the color of blood, and as such has strong symbolism as life and vitality. It brings focus to the essence of life and living with emphasis on survival. Red is also the color of passion and lust.

Put some red in your life when you want:

  • increased enthusiasm and interest
  • more energy
  • action and confidence to go after your dreams
  • protection from fears and anxieties

Wearing Red

Wear a red accent piece when you want to present yourself as bold and dynamic. It can boost your confidence if you are attending a function or interview where you feel unsure of yourself.

Think Big

Porters 2nd Saturday in June: Think Big

So since I've been moving, this got done last minute. I had all sorts of ides for this one but didn't have the pics for them. I thought of my big belly from pregnancy or big mess from moving or using a big embellishment besides a flower or using a 8x10 pic in my layout. Oh well...I do like this layout though.

Think Simple

Porters 2nd Saturday in May: Think Simple

I'm not good at doing one picture pages so I tried to focus on that. Another way that this page was simple was that I used a paper packet where all the papers and stickers matched.
