105th Mommy Mondays - You Never Know

Every mom definitely needs to watch this. You are making a difference even if you don't get everything done on your to do list. I know I definitely need to remember this everyday! We also need to remember not to judge one another if their house doesn't look perfect. They might have been helping others that day.

104th Mommy Mondays - Loose Tooth

My son has his first loose tooth About a month ago I thought that might happen after he complained about a tooth hurting. Sure enough it's loose now! I'm not too surprised since a couple of his friends already have a lost a tooth, and he got his first tooth at 5 months, but just another milestone that's he's growing up!

We noticed it on June 18th. He's not messing with it too much either, just his personality.  He ate a ton of corn on the cob and apples though on our Chicago trip, and it's still there

What age did your child get his first loose tooth?

138th Fashionable Fridays - Firmoo Glasses

 A while ago I was contacted by Firmoo to try out their glasses, but I was going to be gone out of town a lot and wouldn't have a chance to get my prescription so I asked my friend who was looking to try out some glasses (though she doesn't need a prescription) to give them a try. Her is her review.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
A little while ago I saw a picture of myself with glasses on, and I thought "hey, maybe that's what I'm missing! Those look pretty good!" I mentioned it to a group of friends one day and one of them said she had an opportunity for me. It was to try out the Firmoo glasses for her blog! When I checked out the pictures of their product, I was sold.
I don't have a prescription for glasses, and I was glad they had an option for prescription free lenses. I was excited to try these out and see what my peers and family thought of them.
Once the order was placed, it was a very good turn around time to receive them, even though they came all the way from China! I was very impressed that it was just around one week.
Their product is very stylish, and very good quality. The frames are a very solid build. They were a perfect fit for my face, which is very hard to do without trying on 20 pairs first! One shot and they got it right. They are comfortable to wear; the nose pieces are just formed into the design instead of being extra pieces and the arms (?) didn't hurt or irritate my ears with all day use.
I was instantly impressed by the clarity of the lenses. Even with a little dust and a tiny smudge on them they were almost more clear than I could see without them at all. I felt like everything was more crisp and a little more bright in color.
The package came with a hard case and a soft bag, a cleaning cloth and a screwdriver keychain for repairs. I'm pretty excited about the screwdriver. None of my sunglasses ever came with such a thing.
They arrived in the mail one day before I was going hiking with a group from church. I wore them from the first moment I got in the car until I got home later that evening. Not one person mentioned the glasses. I figured that could mean two things: they looked really natural so nobody noticed there was something different, or they looked terrible and nobody wanted to mention it. I decided to wear them again and to work this time - and one use isn't enough to get a good review, right?
The glasses were very comfortable on the hike and I not once considered taking them off. They didn't make my face too sweaty, didn't obstruct my line of vision, nor did they feel like they were a burden in my recreational activities.
It was a few hours at work before anyone noticed the glasses. First it was my boss, then my maintenance guy, and they both approved. I only saw them once through the whole shift, but the next day (yeah, I wore them again) both of them mentioned again how much they liked them on me. My boss pointed it out to others saying "don't those just look great on her?" and "I don't want to sound creepy, and I'm sure you've heard me say this a few times, but they really look good!"
Verdict, they look good and natural. I was right. That is exactly what I was missing.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

She look fabulous in them! I can't wait to get my prescription again to try myself a pair. I know looking at the website, I loved that you can upload your picture to see what glasses work on you. I've always wanted colorful glasses myself, but they never had many colors to actually try on at my doctor's office so I was excited to see they had that photo upload option.
They ask a lot of specific questions to get the right size for your glasses which can be confusing at first, but they have a lot of descriptions and photos to get the right measurements if you don't have prescription measurements.

My friend received these lovely glasses here.

Get your first pair free.

102nd Mommy Mondays - Kids' TV

What is one thing you're grateful your kids "learned" from a TV Show?

A couple months ago, my kids learned a song called "Grown-ups Come Back" on Daniel Tiger's Neighborhood (same people who did Mr. Rogers) from Netflix or Hulu. They sing it all the time, and it helps them when I have to leave them.

Watch a clip here: http://www.pbs.org/parents/daniel/?guid=96c57640-7bf3-413a-8afa-a6eb530989d1

Be careful! It might get stuck in your head!

101st Mommy Mondays - Mouth of Babes

My Daughter and My Son both say this often, "Water keeps me hydrated and milk makes me strong."

My son at the gas station.... A couple Saturdays ago, we went to get gas and the attendant filled us up. My daughter asked what's his name, and I told her I didn't know. My son was like maybe his name is Phillip because he filled up our car. =)

My trouble makers at Wal-mart.

A couple weeks ago, I heard my son tell my daughter "Don't trick that it's alcohol!" so of course I go out to investigate especially since we don't have alcohol in our home, being Latter-Day Saints aka Mormons. In my daughter's hand was a bottle of Lime Juice. =D She was confused about the word "acohal" I told my son, it's not alcohol because we don't have any in the house and told my daughter she could try if she wants, but she probably wouldn't like it. Reminds me of the day when she wanted to drink lemon juice.

100th Mommy Mondays - Scary Moments with your Kids Spotlight

I asked this question to some local ladies about a month ago, after we thought my 5 year old son might need surgery.

What things have scared you that happened with your kids?

Here's one mom's story after giving birth to her second child.

**Slightly graphic images**

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"My labor and delivery was super rough. The doctors even called a McRoberts which come to find out later means they are stuck. Luckily I was able to push him out. The doctor said his head and shoulders came out at the same time. The doctor thought he had a clef pallet (thankfully once again nope). He was misshapen really bad from the delivery and I wasn't able to see him for almost 2 hours after he was born. Then I tried to nurse and he wouldn't latch on right. The nurse tried to help but there were some issues so she brought a NICU nurse up to try to figure it out. He ended up having a high pallet and issues and swelling from the delivery. He even ended up with a blister on his nose.
When they went to go to get the NICU nurse my husband sat in the corner crying holding our son. I kept saying "Honey everything will be fine (of course I didn't see him when he looked his worse but, my husband did)." I asked him what he was thinking and he just said "I am scared something is seriously wrong with him." Later he said that he thought we would have a child with serious mental and physical disabilities. Thankfully he is fine today.
99th Mommy Mondays - Just a Touch of Crazy
Today I'm guest posting over at Just a Touch of Crazy, a new mom blog from my friend and her SIL. It's hilarious! I feel so much better about dealing with my kids every time I read their blog posts.
Just a Touch of Crazy
Check out my crazy mommy moment over there!
Crazy Mom Post for Just a Touch of Crazy
What do you LET your kids do so you can accomplish something else in your house?
Here's one thing I let my child play with so I could bake without messing up. The last time I let her help me, the cookies didn't quite turn out right - miscounted something. So I give her a bowl filled with some flour (flour is pretty cheap right?) and let her mix herself. Unfortunately it turned into a huge mess --- good thing for vacuums!
 Of course I couldn't yell at her; I took pictures! Memory keeping shouldn't just show "perfect" lives.
Needless to say, in the future, I gave her a lot less flour to play around with, like a couple spoonfuls instead of a couple cups.
Most of the time I help my kids bake, but with things with a lot less ingredients (especially for children who really like to do things their own way like my daughter). A favorite in our house to bake together is cheesecake or banana bread.
Check me, Maryanne, out on my blog, Crafty Mommy Diva for Mommy Mondays, Wellness Wednesdays, and Fashionable Fridays and when I find time crafts, recipes, and other fun ideas. You can also follow me on Facebook.
98th Mommy Mondays - Scary Moments with Kids
What things have scared you that happened with your kids? #MommyMondays
Yay my son doesn't need surgery (as long it doesn't come back). He had a 4 cm swollen lymph node sticking out of neck. After 3 check ups with the specialist, it has continued to go down. What a relief!
He's had stitches right before he turned 4 and then had to fix his circumcision as a toddler so he's not been fond of the doctors so I'm grateful he doesn't need to go through surgery.
I asked this question to some local ladies about a month ago, after we thought my 5 year old son might need surgery.
What things have scared you that happened with your kids? I'd love to hear your answers in the comments or e-mail me your story to include in a future Mommy Mondays.
Jessica --- "My son had to go to Primary Children's to have a cat scan of his head. He has Benign external hydrocephalus--ie extra fluid in the brain. It was a really scary time for us but we were so glad that he didn't have a tumor or something that needed a shunt. This same child has been in the hospital 3 times in his little 1 year old life."
Cassie --- I had a little 14 month old who had to go in for surgery to remove a cyst on her neck. It was one of the hardest things I have ever done, to carry my baby to the doors of the operation hall and hand her over to a nurse. Especially when she looked back at me and cryed. But she was okay and recovered super fast.
97th Mommy Mondays - Diet Change for a Mom and her Baby
Meet Chelsea, a new mom who now works from home with Plexus
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

My baby is 7 months old and is super active. I was having some serious issues with introducing solids to her. I was at my wits end after trying for 2 months to get her to take solids without having stomach issues. I had her tested for allergies, and they came up negative. I was also over having a strict diet since I was breastfeeding. I tried switching her to formula with horrible results, no matter which brand she ate. That’s when I heard about Plexus. Plexus is an all-natural drink mix that was designed to help with regulating blood sugar, cholesterol and lipids levels and produces some amazing weight loss results. People were also able to get off of their medications, lose weight, and had more energy. I was skeptical about starting the drink (since I really didn’t need to lose weight) but with a 60-day money back guarantee, I figured at the worst, I’d just try it and then get my money back. I really wanted to try the drink to see if it would help my daughter with her digestive problems.

Low and behold after just 6 days, she was eating solid foods with no problems!!! Not only that but I lost a couple pounds. My daughter is happier and healthier. I have more energy, and my clothes are fitting so much better.

I decided to sell Plexus to help my family and friends get healthier and after just a few orders I am proud to say that was able to pay for my husband's books for school and still have some money leftover for bills!!! The best part about starting my new job was the hours!!! I only put a few posts on Facebook a day, and people ask and order. Not only that but I don’t have to carry an inventory, and my business is completely online so anyone can order anywhere in the world!! The company is world wide with the ability to ship to several other countries. I can’t believe that such a wonderful blessing has come into my life, and I want to share it with everyone!! My life has been so blessed by this business and product!!
Visit http://toslimhealth.wordpress.com for more details!!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Thanks Chelsea. It is always a challenge to get your kids to eat. Glad you found something that worked for you and found something to supplement your income.
My kids never ate baby food; they just skipped right to solid foods.
Valentine Giant Cards Tradition
I saw this idea somewhere, probably on Pinterest, and thought we'd start the tradition. Last year I bought the Jumbo Giant Valentine Cards and every year we'll write a little note of love to each other and to our kids. Then  you can  go back and see past years. This could easily be done for birthdays and other holidays too.
My son chose the dog valentine for himself and the bears for his sister. My husband and double up on the hearts one since there wasn't that many choices left for the Jumbo Cards.
96th Mommy Mondays - Mom of Care Touch Photography
Meet Local Mom, Tori Caresia of Care Touch Photography and her Thoughts on Being a Mom of Two.
I absolutely love being a mom of 2 beautiful girls! They are two years apart, but couldn't be closer with each other. Being a mom of 2 definitely has it's days, and I always feel that I have my hands full, but when you think about it, who doesn't? Any child can keep us on our toes with complete exhaustion but we can be utterly and completely happy at the same time. It's such a beautiful roller coaster of emotion. I have learned that there are never enough hours in the day to get everything done. Even though everyday we tell ourselves that it was an off day, and today will be the day we can do it all. I have definitely learned that priority and care come first, and everything else falls into place. Motherhood is amazing, and I love rocking it!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Thanks Victoria! I definitely can relate to telling myself that I can do it all. I think that helps to try, but also know that there will be days where we can't do it all and we should just enjoy the moments.
She will be doing Easter Minis in March, more details will be announced on her site later this month.

Valentine "Diamond" Kiss Rings

Thanks to the idea from Keeping it Simple and the tutorial at Mom on Time-out, I made these fun Valentine Rings for my Young Women lesson on adversity a couple years ago.

One thing we talked about was coal being turned into diamonds through intense heat and pressure for a long period of time and how this relates to trials and adversity.

These rings were a little treat to remember that they are each being turned into diamonds by our Heavenly Father. Trials are needed to help us grow, learn, and progress.

95th Mommy Mondays - End the Mommy Wars

This article that depicts different moms and their different parenting choices has got me thinking about moms in my area. I live in a Mormon dominated community and sometimes there's judgement felt by many moms. During the next few weeks, I'm going to have these local moms share their thoughts on motherhood and raising children. The topics won't necessarily be about those pictures in the article, but I think it will be great to see the differences, the joys, the struggles of those moms in my local areas. I hope you can look at the moms in your local areas with more love and compassion instead of judgement. We don't know all the reasons or what's goes on in the background. I know since I had my second child, my beautiful stubborn daughter, I have learned a lot about I've needed to do to survive, but have faced some criticism for the way I had to do things. It hurts, but has opened my eyes to be more compassionate to others for the decisions they make.

"You make the choices best for you, I’ll make the choices best for me, and while our choices will often times differ, let’s choose to love one another instead of critique,' she writes.

Key message: The women agree that it's far more important to concentrate on 'raising healthy children'

Valentine's - Princess and Super Hero Suckers

Last year for Valentine's Day, I bought these bows and bottlecap necklaces for $1 each from Little Bit's Hairbows. She is doing the special again this year until February 1st. She also does Easter Basket sets.

Then I saw these SuperHero suckers from Keeping it Simple so I got creative.

I made the SuperHero suckers using my Silhoeutte- but only sticking to the ones that actually have capes =)

Then for the girls, I clipped their bow to their sucker for "Princess/Diva" Suckers  for the girls

I stuck them all in a small box with holes made with my Crop-a-Dile.

With the superhero suckers for friends, I added the super hero bottle cap necklaces. =)

For his teacher, I followed Keeping it Simple's example and made Hershey Kiss Roses. Her use of the pencil worked so much better than another tutorial I tried to follow about 3 years ago. I added a paper wrap to make it even prettier.

Since his preschool teacher also does gymnastics in her curriculum, I wrote this poem.

"Roses are Red
Violets are Blue

You're a great teacher
and awesome at gymnastics too!"

His teacher is pregnant this year, and she can still do cartwheels weeks before she's due!
